Pencil

We recognize that education is a fundamental human right and a key driver of social and economic progress. THEIR FUTURE believes investing in education is critical to our children’s success and our nation’s future. It advocates for policies that will ensure all children have access to quality education, regardless of their background, geographic location, or socioeconomic status.

THEIR FUTURE advocates for:

  • Community Schools: THEIR FUTURE recognizes the importance of schools as community centers and advocates for policies that support the development of community schools, which provide a range of services and supports to students and families beyond traditional academic instruction including access to health care, food and nutrition, after-school programs, and mental health services.

  • Early Childhood Education: THEIR FUTURE recognizes that quality early childhood education is critical for children’s success in later grades. We advocate for policies that ensure all children have access to high-quality early learning opportunities starting at birth. In addition, we advocate for policies that support early-childhood educators, including increasing pay and providing professional development opportunities.

  • Equity: THEIR FUTURE recognizes that disparities in funding, resources, and opportunities for students from different backgrounds are a significant challenge facing our education system and we advocate for policies to address these inequities and promote equity in education. In addition, we advocate for policies that address the root causes of inequities in education, such as racism and poverty, with the goal of creating more diverse and inclusive schools.

  • Funding: THEIR FUTURE believes that we must adequately fund our schools and that as we face the expiration of federal ESSER funds, we need to advocate for ongoing federal support of public schools. In addition, we advocate for policies that decrease funding disparities between wealthy and low-income school districts.

  • Teachers: THEIR FUTURE believes that teachers are essential to student success and advocates for policies to attract and retain high-quality teachers and increase teacher pay. In addition, we advocate for policies that support teacher diversity, such as expanding alternative certification pathways and providing incentives for teachers to work in high-need schools.

  • Tutoring and Ensure: THEIR FUTURE believes that tutoring can be an effective tool for accelerating student learning and addressing pandemic- and summer-related learning loss and we advocate for policies that expand access to high-quality tutoring programs and ensures access to high-quality tutoring for students from all backgrounds.

  • Special Education: THEIR FUTURE believes that students with disabilities deserve equal access to high-quality education and advocates for policies to ensure that students with disabilities receive the support they need to succeed in school. In addition, we advocate for policies that provide additional funding and resources for special education programs and address disparities in special education outcomes for students from all backgrounds.
